A Love Poem
Atoms within me
could just as easily have been rearranged
Clam shell
Drop of whiskey
Light bulb filament
Clump of soil clinging to your boot
And my body is but a tent
Temporal shelter defining space within its walls
Transient shell, indeed
Space inside indestructible
constantly changing
Filled with energy
How satisfied are the atoms to assemble a tent
How pleased is the tent to hold space
How willing is the space to be shared
Difference in composure
does not lessen empathy felt
Soil whose life depends on careful placement of footsteps
Boulder gently teetering in response to the elements
All we might ever truly comprehend is ourselves
And so in what way are we affected?
But answer only to then ask
In what ways do we affect?
To recognize our Self may realize all else
How blessed I am to be present
How blessed I am to be shared
What privilege I have been granted
to be cranky, loved, and scared
