Back and forth and over and back and over again
The last two weeks have probably been the most damaging for my carbon footprint.
The last time I posted, I was in California after driving down from Washington to see my abuelito and some of my family. He hadn't been doing well and unfortunately, I had a feeling it would be one of the last chances I would have to be able to visit him. The visit was short but well worth it, and only 48 hours after I arrived, I flew back out to Washington to meet up with Brian.
We spent a few days in Washington getting our things ready for our road trip down to Utah and hanging out with his dad at his lake house. The weather wasn't fantastic, but we were still able to get out on the lake to go fishing and go for runs and walks around the lake.
Then, the day we were ready to hit the road, my mom called to let me know that my Welito had passed away.
Because Brian was under a bit of a time constraint to get to Utah, we still had to get going, so we drove as far as Idaho and I flew out the next day back to California once more. This time, I stayed a bit longer, and I was incredibly thankful to be surrounded by family, even if we had all been brought to the same place by not-so-pleasant circumstances.
Now, after an early flight and a relatively short drive (compared to the previous longer treks) on Tuesday, I'm finally in red rock country, settling into our traveling home, and ready for a slew of new adventures.
